Here it is, in the real, for the pleasure of your eyes... I know one or two, here, who will appreciate. A quite spectacular dial, I must say: Enjoy! Nicolas...

Exquisite work of art indeed Nicolas, very nice......

although, to me this illustrates a perfect example of a highly refined "gravure", it is not what I would describe as a perfectly suitable wrist watch dial. The case and lugs on the hand are absolutely magnificent. Thank you for the, as usual, beautiful pi...

Wrong choice of words or "tournure de phrase".....

 By: Sandgroper : August 2nd, 2014-19:06
..obviously:) What I mean is that I find the 2 Art Forms, Horology and Gravure, clashing or fighting for attention in this instance. The gravure on the dial distracts from the Horological Art of Measuring Time, in my opinion. A gravure on a watch case, as...

Nice pics of the UN enamel horse Nico!

I know GLau will like this! :) I love the craftsmanship of such art pieces and imho the UN Chinese zodiac series is very well made and reasonably priced (for that level of craftsmanship). I have seen 2 specimens before on the snake and dragon (both owned ...

Well executed but not my taste ....

I still have to come to terms with "paintings"on watch dials.....mmmmm, Superb execution though and great picture. Mo

I don't Nicolas...

They are wonderfully done, and truly art pieces, but I don't think they are too practical for frequent wear. They are also quite pricey. Here in HK, they can be found often at the AD's and they are fun to go look at, but I can't convince myself to buy one...

Remembered to look at the reference section...

Marcus seems to have captured nearly all dials created here...

More than one or two, I am sure ...

... since I know there are many lovers of UN enamel dials. The horses are a marvelous motif, and appear full of strength and movement. Marcus

I applaud UN's restraint in resisting putting "email" somewhere on the dial!

And I love the repetition of the horses' white and gold motif played out in the hands.

Hi Nico, count me in as one of the UN fans that appreciates this dial !!

This Horse enamel is also executed very nicely. Wonder if the change in ownership in UN would have impact (positively or negatively) on the production of Donzé Cadrans, the enamel subsidiary of the UN group ?? Cheers, Gordon

Aaah, I was waiting for you, my friend. ;)

As for your question, I am pretty sure the change of owner will have an impact on the quality of enamel dials. I have more fears for the vision of he brand. I do hope that the new owner will let UN play as they know to play so well! Best, Nicolas

Hi Nico, Hopefully Kering realizes that UN is...

 By: GLau : August 5th, 2014-11:23
... the crown jewel (in term of creativity and innovation) within its watch brands of the Group. Furthermore, assuming (or again hopefully) that Kering paid a reasonable amount for UN (i.e. not over-paid), financial resources will be directed to UN to fur...

There is another interesting brand, in the Kering Group... GP.

 By: amanico : August 5th, 2014-12:24
Which is located in the same place than U.N... There is a lot of work to do to rationalize the GP catalog, and thy are working on it, at GP. I Wonder what is the vision form Kering FOR U.N... Best, Nicolas

Hi Nico, GP did produce cloisonne enamel dials for ...

...its WT (World Time) John Harrison With UN Donze Candran now as GP's sister company, perhaps cross-fertilization will occur and more enamel dials from GP will now be made?? Cheers, Gordon

what I meant was that GP might produce more enamel dials because...

 By: GLau : August 6th, 2014-22:18
...GP could have sister company Donze Cadrans to help make manufacture them !! Keep business within the Kering group.

Aah, in that sense? I hope that everybody in the group will keep his own personality.

 By: amanico : August 6th, 2014-22:39
Even if I find that, somehow, UN and GP had some similaritties. Have a look on their vintage watches, you will see. Even nowadays, they both have some strong products. Still, I really hope they will keep their own character... Best, Nicolas.

Donze Cadrans actually make enamel dials for other brands such as...

 By: GLau : August 7th, 2014-18:17
...Vulcain with the Pegasus dials (for year of the horse) which have been done very nicely !! Hence, within the Kering group, I can imagine that GP and Gucci would want to have Donze Cadrans, its sister company, to make future enamel dials for them. Likel...

good question on "Unless GP have their own enameler, already"??

 By: GLau : August 8th, 2014-08:06
Within a large group, perhaps the GP enameler(s) might be consolidated within Donze. Upon consolidation, Donze can then act as the enameling center for all the group companies and produce enamel dials based on the requirements and style for each group com...
