Ulysse Nardin Basel 2015: Minute Repeater Hannibal Barca.

You know the Genghis Khan, Alexander The Great, you loved them... You will certainly adore the last one, the Hannibal.

Alexander The Great:

Genghis Khan:

This year Ulysse Nardin pays a hommage to the famous Carthaginian General, who is known to have crossed the alps with his army and his... Elephants.

Like the previous Genghis Khan or Alexander The Great, you have an association of a very nice Tourbillon, and a Minute Repeater.

Unlike the former ones, the Hannibal houses a dial made of granite from the Alps. And it uses the new case we have seen sme what... 2 years ago, now?

On the granite background, the Jaquemarts, which are synchronized with the gongs. Hannibal on his horse, the elephant, and his soldiers, all executed with great care, as you can see on this macro:

You have 4 gongs, playing on 4 different tones ( Mi, Re, Sol, Do ), the order of these notes changing with the number of quarters which have to be played.

The case is made of platinum, and is 44 mm big, water resistant to 30 meters.

I must say that I prefer this case to the former ones. Its lugs are very much my taste.

The movement is the manual winding Cal UN 78. A pleasure to admire, through the sapphire case back. It offers a power reserve of 70 hours.

Needless to say that I can't wait to see it in the real, and to hear it!

Best,

Nicolas

I had chance to see Genghisn Khan in person, such a marvel, but Hannibal with its granite dial looks even more marvellous! I share your preference for the new case, but the older one I found more interesting. Those bold, slightly askew looking lugs were c...

Don't get me wrong, my friend. I would be VERY happy with a Genghis Khan!

And I totally agree with you on the great wathes we saw in the past years... Such as the Sonata, the Freak, the Astronomic watches, and so on... Best, Ibrahim. Happy to read you here, too. Nicolas

I happen to see it on the UN website earlier. I love how they have located "ULYSSE NARDIN" along the bottom. Hope to handle it one day as well!

That would be an unforgettable moment, yes.

is such an amazing watch and rarer than rare... I was fortunate to see one in the flesh a few years ago here in Hong Kong. It is as much art as timepiece...extraordinary. Dave ...

I think you are more than right. But our friend Gordon tries to convince himself...
