Finally, I could see a Hour Striker " Erotica " in the flesh, play with it and take some pictures of it!
Not my favourite case, as I much prefer the white metal version, to say all, but it would be stupid to hide my pleasure, and not to share it with you, here.
A striking Watch AND an automaton is, in my opinion, the must of the must, la Creme de la Creme of poetic horology.
The Erotica adds a touch of audace, and of humour, too.
The case is, in its volume and shape very familiar to the sonata fans ( 42 mm, quite thick, and concave bezel ).
The rose gold case goes quite nicely with the mother of pearl dial.
The sound is also very close to the Sonata alarm, rich and pleasant to listen to.
At the difference from a Minute Repeater, the Hourstriker plays the hour " à la demande " and only the hours, not the minutes.
Push on the lever at 4 o' clock, and you will hear the time.
The other difference is that the movement of the Hourstriker ( Cal 610 ) is automatic, while the U.N Minute Repeaters are manual.
It is also interesting to know, or to keep in mind that the first Hourstriker was born in ... 1993, so 20 years ago!
Here are the photos I could take ( thanks to the Kronometry Team, in Paris, for allowing me to play with it, and to take these photos ).
No need to say that a Hourstriker, and why not this version, in white metal, is very high in my dream list, if only my finances could afford it!
Here, in white metal ( platinum ) :
What do you think?
Best,
Nicolas
