It begins with the making of a book of pictures of some incredible work done at Ulysse Nardin. In the winter of 2005, after 4 months of looking thru some 6,000 images taken in summer that year, I made a return trip to Ulysse Nardin.
There were gaps within the pictures. A rich history, that sometimes can be overlooked by the tremendous work done in recent years. The FREAK, the Trilogy of Time, Genghis Khan,...
I had no time to even complete the cloisonne works!
There were a few significant pieces and the Chicago was one such, worth traveling from Singapore to Zurich to Neuchatel in deep snow fall to get my own images of.
After some personal research, I have an image of Ulysse Nardin, under Rolf Schynder to be of a very extreme and advanced company, deep into research and very personal in management. Certainly so much was done within the few years! However, Rolf had aquired with some help from very good friends, a few VERY important watches. To me, MUCH more important than what Christie's, Sotheby's or Antiqurum whatever had in mind.
The Chicago was one such piece.
Handling the precious watch in my hands, late at night, the feeling of history seeping into my fingers.
This is part2 of a series of presentations which began with the Kremlin, and goes thru the 160 years of Ulysse Nardin, to the present...the incredible 160 movement that has the silicium wheels.
I'll let the pictures do the talking....for now.
