In the flesh, Novelties '07, pt. 5: For the Ladies

The current trend
towards larger watches offers new possibilities for the Ladies' watches
as well: Where formerly only quartz movements were used due to size
restraints, solid and tried automatic movements are now standard.
Additionally, I have the impression that our ladies find themselves
interested in mechanical timepieces as well; maybe not because of the
same reasons, but for pure emotion. The restless movement of the
balance wheel is generally compared with a beating heart, and thus a
mechanical watch is attributed some kind of spirit, even 'soul'. Where
we watch enthusaists discuss about wheels and pinions, the ladies
rather see a living organism.Consequently, it is only logical for Ulysse Nardin offering more ladies' watches with mechanical movements.
The first novelty is rather a facelift, but a substantial one: The "Lady GMT" now got a small second instead of a central sweep second, and a new, highly elaborate crown, which is also used on the "Caprice" series:

Lady GMT in stainless steel, with galvanized dial
The second new ladies' watch was never shown in Basel before, since it was presented in summer last year: the "Caprice".
The original presentation can be found in our UN blog section, on the
right side of the page. I really like that watch, it has a unique
design. While the golden cases of course are gorgeous, the strong
outlines of the steel versions, together with the diamonds on the lugs,
have their own aesthetics:
