Was bowled over to receive the watch i have wanted for YEARS as a wedding present from my wife (will post when i can)... It's a Maxi Marine Chronometer, white face, steel bracelet (263-66) - for me, the most striking watch i have ever seen. I set the time...

Welcome to the forum and big congrats on your new time piece, no its not normal and i would suggest you take it back to your AD, it should be plus or minus 3-6 seconds a day or there abouts, it could be magnetized which will need to be demagnetized your A...

dealer thinks this is normal...

Thanks for the response gazoz The UN dealer (Harrods in London) think this is normal for the first few weeks and after a month or so it will settle down to be well within its tolerances (seconds per day at worst). It this a total crock or would you concur...

Well not sure

about that the standard for chronometer is +- 3-6sec a day approx how much are you gaining, also the UN mod is away on vacation marcus he would answer this for you but wait for the other mods and people here and see what they say too but 30sec over night ...

Thanks for info

That is the number for UN Service in Boca Raton, Florida. Ask for Ricardo Baeza. He is the Service Manager and an expert.
