Ulysse Nardin Basel 2015. Freak Lab. THE new Freak.

Mar 18, 2015,12:45 PM

The Freak Lab shares its case ( 45 mm / white gold wink  with the former and still in the catalog Freak Cruiser, so news from that side.

BUT there are two important novelties.

1/ The Date!  Yes, this is the first Freak to offer a date, which is located here, between 3 and 4 o clock. Not too intrusive, quite well integrated,  the date hater I am is not too disturbed by it. Even if, as always, I prefer without.

To set the time, you turn the upper beze clockwise. To set the date, you turn it anti clockwise. Do not forget that the Freak doesn't have a crown to Wind the movement nor to set the time! It is a quite smart and clever system.

2/ The osicllating organ receives a new " pare choc " system, the Ulychoc shock absorber. " This solution avoids forces of play and friction, enabling the balance staff to be perfectly recentered in the event of an impact. " ( Press Release ).

Here is the Freak Lab:

The Ulyshock System.

We'll certainly come back to this Watch, later, when we have the possibility to see it in the real.

But I thought it was difficult to not share this news!

Best,

Nicolas

Very strange to see the date and a minute track on The Freak

Yes, looking at these photos, I think it works OK. But I have always felt less is more with The Freak. I am still yet to experience a Cruiser in the metal; I think that will be the one for me, some day.

Love it.

Another cool FREAK for us to enjoy. This one even looks better to me than his predecessors. The addition of the date, makes it more wearable as an everyday watch. I've tried them many times and they are too big for me, not a watch I would wear, but a plea...

Then, maybe a Freak 1st generation is the best choice for you.

This Lab is as big as the Cruiser: 45 mm. Best, Amigo. Nicolas
