Ulysse Nardin Basel 2015: The Marine Perpetual.

5 variations on a matte black rubber coated steel case whose dimensions are generous: 45, 8 mm.

5 variations for every taste. If your preference goes for colorful watches, then the colored sapphires are for you: Blue Red or Green.

If you want it in white, then the diamonds version is the one you will go for.

But if you are a " Man in Black ", then the black ceramic is made for you.

The jewelled versions are limited to 28 pièces each; the black ceramic is limited to 99 pièces.

Personally, I am not convinced by the jewelled versions, which contrast too much with the spirit of this black beast, which, therefore, is a diving Watch!

I am much more intrigued by the black ceramic version. But, of course, it is all a matter of taste.

And let's not forget that this model is a perpetual calendar, too, and one of the most friendly from the current market, if not THE most friendly. Indeed, you can set the date forward and backward through the crown. No need for pushers, no need to be worried about setting the date back, you can do everything you want in a total peace of mind.

Here are the official press pictures:

The colored sapphires + the black ceramic:

The diamonds:

The black ceramic:

For the most curious among us, the strap is rubber made, and the buckle is folding.

Best,

Nicolas

I wish I were feeling this one

But alas, openworking a perpetual is risky business. I can think of some examples that it seems to really work for. The UN is a bit busy IMO with its new bezel and other details.

That is a strong one, for sure. Certainly not a consensual watch.

I need to see it in the flesh. I really don't know what to think about that one. But since I started with a negative feeling on the 160th anniversary to finally buy it when I saw it in the flesh, since then, I am more prudent. ;) Best, Nicolas

Very strong & bold watch...
